"Mrs. Josephine C. Vandiver is a product of the Kansas City, Kansas schools. She attended Kealing and Stowe Elementary Schools, Northeast Junior High School and Sumner High School. After her graduation from Sumner High School, Mrs. Vandiver attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. There she received an A.B. Degree in Sociology. She received the M.A. Degree from Hampton Institute, Hampton, Virginia in counseling. She taught school in the Kansas City, Kansas school in the elementary and junior high school level. Mrs. Vandiver holds the distinction of being a "Cadet" teacher before becoming assigned a permanent teaching assignment. Later, she served as a counselor at Northeast Junior High School. She was assigned to serve as counselor at the F. L. Schlagle High School. She remained in this position until her retirement in 1984."
