Clergy, the Community Invited to Attend Upcoming Adopt-A-School Workshops
Ministers, principals, educators and area community members are invited to learn about a special initiative that benefits students, teachers and the Kansas City community at large.
The initiative is called Adopt-A-School and focuses on partnering area schools with churches to foster cultural enrichment, academic enhancement, career awareness and much more.
To spread the word about its value and help others to get involved, two workshops have been planned. They are set for:
- Saturday, August 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wyandotte High School, 2501 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
- Thursday, August 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri.
Several administrators from the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools will be on hand at the workshops to answer questions and provide valuable information. They include: Dr. Cindy Lane, assistant superintendent for business and instructional support services; Steve Gering, deputy superintendent for teaching and learning; and Susan Engelmann, executive director for high schools.
The workshops are being presented by KCK Public Schools, LCMS-World Relief & Human Care, Citywide Prayer Movement KC, Christian Fellowship Ministries, Leadership Foundation of Kansas City, Baptist Ministers Union, School Linked Services, the University of Missouri Extension 4-H, the Missouri State Board of Education and numerous other local churches and clergy.
