Senator Roberts to Visit Frank Rushton
U.S. Senator Pat Roberts will read to children at the Frank Rushton Elementary School at 2605 West 43rd Ave, KCK, as part of his year long effort to promote reading in the state. The event is open to the media. It will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2007. Senator Roberts plans to read, "Horton Hears a Who" to the students.
March 2nd is "Read Across America Day," a day designated by the Congress and supported by Senator Roberts to encourage parents to read to children at least 30 minutes a day. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of "Read Across America Day" and celebrates the birthday of Theodor Geisel, or Dr. Seuss, for his success in encouraging children to discover the joy in reading.
