Members of KC Brigade Team Up with KCK Public Schools to Kick Off 'Believe Campaign'

The Kansas City Brigade "believes" in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS), and several members of the team will be voicing their support as they help jumpstart a special awareness campaign next week.

Players from the arena football team will be attending the KCK School Foundation for Excellence "Believe Campaign" kick-off program set for 1:45 to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, January 22 at Wyandotte High School. The Believe Campaign is a comprehensive, community and school-wide effort to raise monetary support for the Foundation.

Since 1991, the KCK School Foundation for Excellence has been providing scholarships to students in the KCK Public Schools, supporting their post-secondary education. But this year, the Foundation has plans to expand its support to teachers and staff, and even more students. And it is asking for backing from staff and the community to make this happen.

"Our mission is to expand our support efforts to include professional development for teachers, field trips for students, tuition reimbursement and other special projects," said Keith Jones, marketing specialist. "We are investing in the future of our community and we are confident that we can make a difference. But we need everyone's support to make it happen."

The KC Brigade will host a special "Friends and Family Day" on March 24 at the Sprint Center. The team will donate a percentage of all tickets sold that day to the Foundation. The Wyandotte High School Band is scheduled to perform at the game.

In the coming weeks, KCKPS staff members and student households will have an opportunity to pledge their support. Pledge cards will be distributed internally and via mail. Incentives have been established to encourage participation. Parents who return pledge cards on or before Feb. 27 (which is the next scheduled Family Advocacy Day) will receive a KCKPS "Believe" t-shirt.

A celebration reception has been planned for March 14 to announce results of the campaign.
