The District Improvement Planning Committee was charged, as follows, to develop for recommendation to the Board of Education on December 12, 1995, a District Improvement Plan:
Select through consensus a Chairperson and approve a Plan of Operation.
Become familiar with the approved Planning Assumptions, including the Board Policy on Strategic Planning, and related resource materials, including the Needs Assessment
Resolve to develop an Improvement Plan that
Reflects a shared vision of what USD 500 can become.
Focuses on improved student performance.
Emphasizes collaboration with parents and community.
Preserves the District's commitment to desegregation and multiculturalism.
Creatively addresses improvement needs.
Is as efficient in implementation as possible, without loss of effectiveness.
Review and validate (or make suggested changes) to the
Core Values
District Mission
District Beliefs
District policy on Strategic Planning.
Develop a five-year District Improvement Plan to include:
Goals that address improved student performance.
Objectives/strategies that address improvement needs in the five strand areas (or as amended) that are research-based and likely to be effective, doable with available resources within the five-year period, and coherent with the overall plan.
Brief lists of suggested activities under each objective/strategy to guide central and campus staff in writing action plans for implementation.
Suggested timelines for implementation.
Recommendations for Quarterly Progress Reports and Annual Updates/Revisions of the District Improvement Plan.
