From Patty Blake.

Your website is wonderful and I have enjoyed learning about the school
district where my ancestor Laura Noyes taught. She taught in the K.C.
school district at various schools from 1913 to 1952 when she retired. She
never married and according to my uncle who is still living and 92 years
old.... teaching was everything to her. She loved it. The schools she
taught at were... George B. Longan, E.C. White, Scarritt, Meservey and
Emerson. I'm trying to write a short bio on her for our family history and
was wondering if you could tell me who I could contact to find out when she
taught at Emerson. I'm not sure the other schools are still around so this
might be my only chance to learn a little more about this most unusual
woman. Laura's mother, Martha Noyes, was also a teacher as was my great
grandmother's sister.

I have learned that Laura's father died when she was 5 years old and that she and her mother remained single for the rest of their lives. My uncle tells me
that she talked fondly of her students and so I think they must have been
the children that she never had of her own.... I want this little family to
be remembered... teachers are just so important and have been throughout
history. I publish a family newsletter quarterly for my family and anything
I can learn about one of our ancestors is like gold to me!
