The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is an exceptional school system, which uses an array of innovative teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of our students. We also have a vigorous professional development program designed to support our teachers.
Our district consists of 47 schools, including three preschools, 30 elementary schools (grades k-5), eight middle schools (grades 6-8), four senior high schools (grades 9-12), Sumner Academy of Arts and Science (grades 8-12), and an alternative school. At last count, we had 19,864 students. KCKPS has approximately 3,300 employees, including 1,450 teachers.
