Human Resources Services
License Renewal Procedures Checklist:
- Review the requirements for renewal on your current license.
- Conditional license holders must complete requirements listed on their license.
- If you have a bachelor's degree with a 3 year standard certificate, you are eligible to receive a 5 year Initial license if you have 2 years teaching experience within the 3 years of the validity of your certificate.
- If you have a Bachelors Degree with a 5 year standard certificate or professional license, you will need 80 inservice points and 4 college credits (junior/senior level) that align with your Individual Development Plan. You may also renew with 8 graduate credits that align with your Individual Development Plan. You will need to bring 2 official transcripts of the 4 college credits to be used to renew your license to Human Resources to be converted.
- If you received a Masters Degree subsequent to your last license renewal, bring 2 official transcripts of your advanced degree to the PDC located in the Human Resources office, to have your graduate hours converted on to a USD 500 professional development transcript.
- Those who hold an advanced degree recorded on their current license are eligible to renew with 120 Kansas inservice/professional developments points or regionally accredited junior senior college or university credits, or a combination of both to equal 120 points.
- Reinstated: Those that hold an advance degree recorded on their current license are eligible to renew with three years of accredited experience during the term of the most recent license. This type of experience renewal may be used twice in the applicant's career and is only available for advanced degrees earned prior to July 1, 2003
- Request 2 sealed transcript/s sent to you from your colleges/universities for any college hours to be used for license renewal.
- When the college/university transcripts are received, notify the Human Resources Office/Tanya Davis (627-2421). Bring transcript/s for review and, if the courses taken align with your IDP Plan goal/s, the hours will be converted to IDP Points and added to your IDP transcript.
- After IDP points have been reviewed and approved, the IDP Transcript will be printed for processing.
- Completed application for renewal
- Sealed copy of college/university transcript/s
- Application Fee
- You will need to complete a new Individual Development Plan, in order to accrue points for your next license renewal. You MUST have a current IDP Plan on file in the Office of Human Resources, so please return the completed form immediately.
- If your license has expired more than 6 months, please contact KSDE at (785) 291-3678 for information on renewal.
