Students Showcase Entrepreneurial Skills at Big Ideas Competition

Congratulations to KCKPS students who participated in the Youth Entrepreneurs (YE) The Big Idea Semifinals – a business pitch competition that gives students a chance to win capital grants.  Among the students from KCKPS that participated in the event on April 26 and their capital grants:

  • Evelyn Molina $950, J.C. Harmon High School
  • Anahi Grande $500, J.C. Harmon High School
  • Cristian Torres $200, Washington High School
  • Jesus Juarez $50, Wyandotte High School

Harmon Winners

Twenty-four students from Kansas City-area schools were selected to take part in this year’s event. Top finishers will move on to The Big Idea Finals competition at the YE Summit on June 19 in Wichita, Kansas. Evelyn Molina will advance to the Big Idea Final on June 19 as the top finisher in the competition. Both Evelyn Molina and Anahi Grande will participate in the YE Summit as a result of finishing in the top 4 of the April 26 competition. Each student has seven minutes to pitch his/her business idea to a group of judges followed by seven minutes of Q and A. Judges are given a pool of $2,500 to invest in the business and/or person(s) of their choice.
