The Kansas City Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) will host a district-wide Open House on Tuesday, April 22. Members of the community are invited and encouraged to drop by any KCKPS school or building to visit with teachers and staff, view classrooms and to learn more about the progress being made in the district.
"These are public schools," said Dr. Jill Shackelford, superintendent of schools. "Our community provides significant support for our public schools, in the form of taxes. Community members are the ultimate beneficiaries of the quality graduates that the district produces. We strongly encourage members of this community to take the time to get a first-hand experience of our schools, by coming to visit on the 22nd."
Schools will be open to visitors from the beginning of school through 6 pm. Many schools will have old pictures and yearbooks available for alumni who want to remember "the way we were." Refreshments will be served.
This is the second year that KCKPS has sponsored an Open House.
Additional information about the Open House, including the addresses of individual schools, is available on the district website: www.kckps.org.
