KCKPS to Host Preschool Roundup April 24

Do you have a child who will be four years old on or before August 31, 2008? If so, taking advantage of the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools' (KCKPS) upcoming Preschool Roundup is a great idea!

KCKPS will host its annual Preschool Roundup on Thursday, April 24. KCKPS Preschools serve at-risk four-year-olds. To qualify, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Custodial parent is unmarried
• Either parent was a teenager at the time of the child's birth
• A language other than English is spoken in the home
• Child has limited English proficiency (as determined by Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) guidelines)
• Family is enrolled in a migrant program (certificate on file with KSDE)
• SRS letter of referral
• Parent(s) does not have a high school diploma or GED
• Child qualifies for free lunch program
• Child is developmentally/academically delayed based on assessments

Parents must bring their child's state birth certificate (must be the original, not a copy), his or her immunization records and proof of a recent physical. Proof of address, such as a utility bill or lease agreement with the parents' name on it, is also required. This district has several preschool sites, but enrollment will be held at a few select buildings.
