Database Services for USD#500 Schools and Libraries
These databases are provided for students and staff of USD 500. They may be accessed anywhere in the district. If you would like to use them at home, please see your school librarian for password information.

- Student Resource Center - Gold. A fully integrated database containing thousands of curriculum-targeted primary documents, biographies, topical essays, background information, critical analyses, full-text coverage of 800 magazines, over 10,000 photographs and illustrations, and more than 8 hours of audio and video clips.
- Student Resource Center - Junior. A fully integrated database containing thousands of curriculum-targeted primary documents, biographies, topical essays, background information, critical analyses, full-text coverage of 100 magazines, over 10,000 photographs and illustrations, and more than 8 hours of audio and video clips.
- Student Resource Center - Health Resource Center. A database containing over 1,400 essays on medical and health-related topics that include diseases, treatments, diagnostic equipment, and major historical figures in the fields of medicine, chemistry, biology, and other related areas.
- Junior Reference Collection. Includes nearly 12,000 documents, 8,500 photographs and illustrations, 50 video and audio clips, and 3 complete Merriam-Webster's dictionaries (Collegiate, Biographical, and Geographical). The JRC's search paths are distinguished by subject area — People, Places, Subjects, Authors, Books, Timeline; the results are categorized by document type —Overview Essay, Biography, and Timeline Event.
- K12 Infotrac Designed for grades K-6, Kids Edition provides easy access to magazine articles, reference books and newspapers. Kids Edition has an easy to use graphical interface.
- Opposing Viewpoints. Information about controversial social issues. Access viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites, and full text magazine and newspaper articles.
- Science Resource Center. An in-depth, curriculum-oriented science database that provides information for science-related research needs. This resource reflects curriculum trends and focuses on key concepts taught in school classrooms such as earth science, science history, life science, physical science, science and technology, space and much more. There are also links from the Kansas Science standards to resources in the database.

- SIRS Knowledge Source
A general reference database that contains thousands of full-text articles exploring social, scientific, health, historic, economic, business, political and global issues. The services also includes a government database and an arts and humanities database. Many articles are accompanied by graphics, including charts, maps, diagrams and illustrations. - SIRS Discoverer®
An award-winning database designed with the young researcher in mind. Because it includes middle and elementary curriculum topics, Discoverer can be easily integrated into classroom activities. The database can be searched by reading level: easy, moderate, or challenging. Discoverer includes elementary and middle school edition workbooks, a comprehensive Educator's guide, World Almanac for kids and an encyclopedia.
World Book Online Encyclopedia
World Book Online is an up-to-date, reliable, authoritative, easy-to-understand information resource with an array of supplementary search tools and information sources. World Book can help with many research needs. You may need the answer to a particular question, such as "What is the correct height of a badminton net?" or "What is the population of Haiti?" Or you may want general information to help with a school assignment. If you need help using World Book, please ask library staff for assistance.
