Application Instructions

Please read the program information listed at http://www.kckps.org/teach/fellows prior to completing the application. We can only consider complete applications for the fellows program. Complete applications include the KCK Fellows application with 5 contacts for references, Personal Statement, Resume, and one complete set of transcripts.

References

Before filling out the application make sure you have the addresses and phone numbers of at least 5 people who can serve as professional/academic references for you.

Personal Statement

Write a personal statement to the selection committee explaining why you want to teach in the Kansas City, Kansas school district and how your previous experiences have prepared you to succeed in a classroom in a high-needs school. Please include volunteer work, community service, philanthropy or other service related experience. The personal statement provides us with information not captured elsewhere in the application. We use the personal statement to evaluate your writing and critical thinking skills, and more importantly, to gain a sense of your commitment to teaching students in the Kansas City Kansas School District. Personal Statements should be typed and be 300-600 words in length. You may either upload, type in, or cut and paste your personal statement into the text area box. Note: The uploaded personal statement must be converted to rich text or text format and named your "last-name_first-name" and "_p". (ex: boose_teresa_p) You will only have one chance to upload the personal statement, so please make sure it is submitted correctly.

Resume

The application will allow you to upload your resume. Your resume should list your employment beginning with your most recent position. You should include self-employment, internships, part-time jobs and other related positions. Please describe your responsibilities for each position. Note: The uploaded resume must be converted to rich text or text format and named your "last-name_first-name" and "_r". (ex: boose_teresa_r) You will only have one chance to upload the resume, so please make sure it is submitted correctly.

Submit Application

Please provide your initials as your electronic signature. This electronic signature certifies that all information provided is true to the best of your knowledge.

Transcripts

Forward one copy of ALL transcripts to ATTN: Alternative Certification Coordinator, Kansas City Kansas Public Schools, 625 Minnesota Ave. Kansas City, KS 66101. Transcripts are needed from each institution attended.
